Must-See Museums in Zadar

Zadar is so much more than just the sun and sea and once you visit you'll learn what that means exactly.

In addition to the old streets and world-famous monuments, Zadar also offers a large number of museums we think are worth a visit. Below find our top three must-see museums.

The Permanent Exhibition of Religious Art – The Gold and Silver of Zadar

The Gold and Silver Exhibition in Benedictine Convent of St. Mary's Church was transformed into a permanent display in 1976. In the church, gold and silver are displayed across 1200 m2 in as many as eight halls. These treasures, of inestimable value, have been preserved by the Benedictine sisters throughout centuries and wars, and thanks to them you can enjoy one of the most beautiful exhibitions in the world.

Museum of Ancient Glass

The Museum of Antique Glass is a unique collection of about 2000 different antique glass objects, some of which date back to the 1st century BC. Specifically, the treasures were found in Zadar, Nin, Starigrad, and Asseria near Benkovac.

Museum of Illusions

The Museum of Illusions is one of the newest museums in the city, and it leaves many visitors pleasantly in awe. This is a place where nothing is as it seems, and it makes for the perfect outing for all generations. It's a little more difficult to describe its contents, and because of that you'll have to visit and personally discover all of the secrets it hides.
